Venue Change For 2004 World Amateur Team Championships

Far Hills, N.J -- The 2004 World Amateur Team Championships will now be played at the River and Ocean courses of the Westin Rio Mar Beach Resort and Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, the International Golf Federation has announced.

Originally, the men's and women's team competitions were scheduled at the Hyatt Dorado Resort and Country Club in Puerto Rico.  A decision to convert the Hyatt Regency Cerrromar – the hotel property for the championship-- into a time share, made more than 500 rooms unavailable for the October 2004 dates.

The Women's Team Championship will be held from Oct. 20-23 and the Men's Team Championship will be played from Oct. 28-31.  The championships are being hosted by the Puerto Rico Golf Association (www.prga.org).

At Rio Mar (www.westinriomar.com), the River Course was designed by Greg Norman and the Ocean Course was designed by George and Tom Fazio.
