2010 IGF Anti-Doping Policy

Date: April 2010
To: All Member Organisations
From: IGF Joint Secretaries
Re: Anti-Doping Policy at the 2010 World Amateur Team Championships

Dear Sir / Madam:

The IGF’s Anti-Doping Policy for the 2010 World Amateur Team Championships has now been posted in the ‘IGF Anti-Doping Policy’ section of the website www.internationalgolffederation.org.

All Member Organisations competing in the 2010 World Amateur Team Championships should ensure that they are familiar with the Policy and its requirements and that all competitors are aware of their rights and responsibilities in taking part in the Doping Control process. An easy to read Player Guide has also been produced and posted on the website and we would encourage you to ensure that all competitors have access to this Player Guide as soon as possible.

The IGF Policy adopts the WADA List of Prohibited Substances which can be found on WADA’s website www.wada-ama.org and the IGF Prohibited List 2010 is also available on the ‘IGF Anti-Doping Policy’ section of the IGF website. It is vitally important that any competitor who is taking or wishes to take, for a legitimate medical reason, a medication that is prohibited under the IGF’s Policy applies in advance for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). Applications for a TUE should be submitted to the competitor’s national anti-doping organisation and details of these can also be found on www.wada-ama.org. Copies of any TUE approved must be forwarded to the IGF by 29th September 2010. Copies of any TUE issued must also be brought to the Championships. Declarations of Use should be made at the time of testing.

In the event that a Member Organisation is either unable to contact its national anti-doping organisation or the country concerned does not have a WADA compliant anti-doping organisation, the Member Organisation should contact the IGF Anti-Doping Office (contact details below) who will advise on the best method of applying for a TUE.

In the event of an adverse analytical finding (positive test result), which is not invalidated for any reason, for example, an approved TUE on file, the case will be reviewed by the Anti-Doping Committees of the IGF and sanctions imposed.

In a team consisting of three competitors, if one competitor commits a Doping Offence, that competitor’s results will be disqualified and the team result recalculated. If more than one competitor in a team commits a Doping Offence, the team will be disqualified. In a team consisting of two competitors, if one or more competitor commits a Doping Offence the team will be disqualified and the results of the Championships recalculated.

We sincerely hope that no competitor in the 2010 World Amateur Team Championships will breach the IGF’s Anti-Doping Policy.

If you have any queries regarding the Policy, its application, Therapeutic Use Exemptions or any other matter relating to Doping Control, please contact the IGF’s Anti-Doping Administrator Michele Verroken +44 5601 682094 or by e-mail to igfantidoping@sportingintegrity.com

Yours faithfully

PETER DAWSON / DAVID B FAY
